I have recently had the opportunity to curate an exhibition at the Council House in Plymouth. Titled Emergence, this show consists of a selection of work by students in their second year of University, with each piece revolving around the theme of emergence. From film showcases in the grand Council Chambers to paintings and installations, this exhibition highlights a broad range of media and innovative talent. Through Emergence, these upcoming students are being given the chance to express their voices within the city, becoming a part of Plymouth’s emerging artistic community.
As a second year Fine Art student it was a great task to curate and produce work for this exhibition in a one of the most important council buildings in the city centre. However the experience gave me great knowledge and skill in exhibiting and all the practicalities of a curator.
The show was a success with a range of artwork all created to a high standard and placed in positions where they all had dialogue with each other.
A MUST SEE
