On the 11th of December, I was chosen to exhibit my work in an international exhibition in Amsterdam called the Hans Brinker Budget Trophy Award. It was an incredible experience and a wonderful opportunity. We first arrived in the vibrant city on the Wednesday and made ourselves at home in the hostel which was also to be our exhibition space. On the Thursday we began the arrangements for the exhibition. Our names were pulled out of a hat to pick the rooms and the fellow artist we would be sharing with. The work that I brought to Amsterdam was my most current work depicting the series of dead animals and decided to hang alongside these my 2nd year paintings as the dialogue between them worked extremely well. On the exhibition night, my work got a great response. I was in the capital of Flemish Still Life paintings and the images of the dead animals were at home near the great still lives in the Rijks
Museum just down the road. Whilst in Amsterdam I got to visit this museum were I was greatly inspired by these paintings and the history of the Dutch culture, viewing high Renaissance and Dutch Golden Age master pieces. I also visted the Van Gogh museum which I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this exhibition. Although the work by Eduard Munch interested me more, the abundance of paintings which were on display in this museum just showed the vigor and resilience of the artist.
